It’s April 18, 2026, and Claude has developed into a highly versatile tool, seamlessly blending creative brainstorming, technical heavy lifting, and everyday productivity. Whether you are a product manager, developer, designer, a writer, or someone just trying to organize your week, here is a look at what Claude can, can’t, and won’t do.
What Claude CAN Do
Writing & Communication
Drafting & Creation: Write emails, essays, reports, stories, scripts, fiction, poetry, and marketing copy from scratch or from your notes.
Editing & Refinement: Proofread, restructure, and tighten any piece of writing.
Tone & Style Adaptation: Match a specific writing style, mimic a brand voice, or write at a designated reading level.

What Claude CAN’T Do
System & Access Limitations
No Image/Video Generation: Claude cannot generate, edit, or manipulate images or video files.
No Autonomous Browsing: It will not browse the web unprompted; it only searches when strictly relevant to your query.
No Unapproved Actions: It cannot make phone calls, send texts, or email on your behalf unless you have explicitly connected tools like Google Drive or Calendar.
No Unapproved Access: It cannot access files on your device (unless uploaded) or tap into private systems, databases, or accounts you haven't linked.
Offline Sandbox: Claude cannot run code that requires live internet access, as its coding sandbox is completely offline.
Memory Constraints: It will not remember past conversations unless the memory system has explicitly saved a specific detail. It does not permanently update its core training based on your chat.
Knowledge & Quality Limits
Training Cutoff: Its core training knowledge cuts off around August 2025. For events after that, it relies entirely on web search.
Hallucinations: Claude can still confidently state things that are wrong, especially regarding niche, highly technical, or rapidly changing topics. It cannot verify its own accuracy with 100% certainty.
Complexity Degradation: Very long documents or complex, multi-step tasks can sometimes cause it to lose consistency.
Reasoning Limits: While strong, its logic is not infallible, particularly with highly complex math or advanced logic puzzles.
No Professional Licenses: It is not a licensed doctor, lawyer, or financial advisor.
Inherent Bias: It can occasionally reflect biases present in its original training data.
Platform Limits
No voice or video interaction.
No persistent, autonomous tasks running in the background while you are away.
What Claude WON’T Do
To ensure safety and ethical use, Claude has strict guardrails hardcoded into its system. It will categorically refuse to:
Weaponize: Help create, design, or optimize weapons (chemical, biological, nuclear, or explosive).
Exploit: Generate sexual or romantic content involving minors.
Hack: Write malware, exploits, or malicious code designed to attack systems.
Deceive: Produce content specifically designed to deceive, manipulate, or harm people.
Plagiarize: Reproduce copyrighted material (such as modern songs, poems, or premium articles) verbatim.
